Comedy is serious business –Tee A

Taiye Adewale’s greatest dream at the moment is to witness the advent of corporate brand sponsorships for stand-up comedians in Nigeria.
Popularly known as Tee A, he would give anything to see this dream fulfilled and be relieved of the burden of funding his own shows himself within and outside the country.
“It can be frustrating when you have to beg individuals for funds to organise a show and to put your recorded or live programmes on television stations. If we have corporate brand sponsorships, many comedians in this country would move to the next level and repackage themselves properly.
“Comedy is serious business. But it is not funny when an individual that is supposed to be trading in jokes is saddled with running around for funds and the same person is tasked with overseeing the smooth running of the stage, crew, guests, event venue and adverts. You are already spent by the time you step out to make jokes. Nigerian comedians have been operating from a disadvantaged position.”
Tee A has just finished working on a special live edition of Tymeout With Tee A, which will debut in Lagos soon. “We are hosting superstar musicians, actors and celebrities on Dec. 1. And these are people that have never been on the show before. Guests will also be opportuned to see live and direct, the hit segments with MC Abbey and Madam Princess,” he said.
